AND there they go...Doves will be gone

Postby 870slugger » Mon Aug 27, 2018 11:22 am

The HIGH today is forecasted to be 45* rain and wind.
To night it will probably freeze or at least frost.

5 days BEFORE dove season.Ouch

I'm thinking I'll need a plan "B".

Probably have to go chase sharptail or something.

Most years we get one day before it gets cold and the doves leave
Hold my beer and watch this! :bonk:

A fun dove opener for us in Indiana. We hunted a public land draw hunt. The action in our field was great, almost nonstop action for our 5 hours. The outcome wasnt so good, lol, but we had a great time. I went 3 for 32 shots, and my buddy went 6 for 50 shots. The birds were spooked from all the shooting, so they were fast today. Oh well, it was an exciting day!

Don't feel bad. Archery deer opened and we're in for another heat wave, in the 90s.

Hogpatrol: Used to hunt archery deer in the Stonyford/Willows area in ca. But as I grew older and the temp's ran in and around the 100 mark, I just had to give it up, in that area. Now, when I do draw a tag, it has to be in the N.E. areas of ca and the timber/sage, when it is cooler. Bill K

We went to our Antelope unit to scout and hunt sharp tail grouse.
Saw a LOT of shooters and we found a few sharpies
