Rat patrol

Postby deadeer » Wed Jan 02, 2019 12:54 am

Tree rats that is! My buddy and I took this bag of 9 fox squirrels. We both used Marlin 22mags that are super accurate. We hunted his woods where the squirrels dont tolerate you getting close. We didnt get a shot under 50 yards, and estimate the longest was at least 125 yards.

Looks like a very nice bunch of fine eating. Good shooting and thank you for sharing the venture. Bill K :2ar15smil:

As you know, all shots with the 22mag and 17hmr have to be head shots or you wont be eating it! Lol. Unfortunately, quick movement from them and limb deflections dont always give exact shot placement.

We only saw 3 and took 2 squirrels next time out. We did have a nice buck come out of a swamp we were next to. His rack was all busted up, but he was a big mature deer. At least it was some action!
