What did you harvest?

Postby bullseye-69 » Wed Nov 29, 2017 4:48 am

So deer seasons should be about halfway thru this year.
What did you harvest?

I got a Roe buck in England and a Red stag in Scotland.
I got a doe with the x-bow and a doe with the rifle I built in 7.7jk. Both were in Indiana.

I also got 2 coyotes as a bonus when I was out deer hunting.
Also only one Canada goose. Not flying around here this year like last year
and about 5 squirrels.
Still trying to get a nice IN buck but haven't seen anything big.

No pics required but always make the post better.
That is a nice list of a hunting season that is for sure.

We have totally different seasons to you, but here is my game list from 1st Jan 2018

2 x Muntjac bucks
1 x Red stag
6 x Red hinds
2 x Roe bucks
2 x Roe does
3 x red fox
27 x pheasants (only half way through the season so far)
1 x hare
15 squirrels
countless rabbits

Still hoping for a partridge and a woodcock before the end of the season

Next year, hoping to have a bucket-list species on that list too !!

I had a very tough season! A lot of dead slow hunting time, but a good finish. The weather was tough off and on, including a terrible opening weekend. I went iirc, 12 sits in a row at the start of gun season without seeing a deer. Including sitting at a nature preserve the entire opening weekend, completely skunked! Was ready to give up hunting. Lol.

Then I took my boy, said lets set against 2 trees, no camo, right on the food plot, and finally saw a doe that I harvested. It was very special since it was the first deer harvest my boy was part of. He was very excited!!!

I got 2 deer at a State Park hunt in 2 days. Both unantlered bucks. Five of us killed 11 deer in 2 days! Finally starting to show promise.

Then a buddy let me hunt a farm he manages. I passed 2 small bucks the first sit, since there were much bigger on camera. I got a triple of does on last day of gun season! Had 7 or 8 come in, and started blasting away!

Then I got a big doe in late muzzleloader season in 15" of snow when I had pneumonia! Doc said I could do whatever I could stand since I was medicated. Lol. Luckily I had access to my buddys tractor to recover her, or I would still be out there.

I have been working a lot, so this was a tough overall season. Only got 11 squirrels, one rabbit, and killed 2 crows otherwise. Deer is my main game, so in the end, we ended with a full freezer. I guess I have nothing to complain about.
